About the ASA Medals Program
The ASA Umpire Medals Program is designed to recognize those
umpires who have the stamina, guts, fortitude...or wisdom...to stick it out and
stay with umpiring for more than just a year or two. These umpires deserve to be
recognized for their service and commitment to a very tough job.
An umpire is qualified to participate in the Medals Program if
he/she is currently an active registered ASA umpire in good standing and meets
one of the following criteria.
BLUE
- Active ASA registered umpire for 3 years.
BRONZE
- Active ASA registered umpire for 5 years.
- Umpired or served as UIC, Assistant UIC or umpire
coordinator in at least one Metro/State
championship or higher.
OR
Umpired at the local level for 7 years.
SILVER
- Active ASA registered umpire for 7 years.
- Umpired or served as UIC, Assistant UIC or umpire
coordinator in at least 3 national
championships. National Umpire School can be used in place of one national
championship.
OR
Umpired at the local level for 15 years.
GOLD
- Active ASA registered umpire for 7 years.
- Umpired in at least 3 national championships, two of
which must have been in the tournaments
listed below. The evaluation in these two must be of the highest rating.
National Umpire School
can be used in place of one national championship.
Fast Pitch: Men's or Women's Major, Men's or Women's "A",
Girls 18&under Gold or Men's
Masters 40&over.
Slow Pitch: Men's Super, Men's, Women's or Men's Industrial Major or
"A"; Men's Major 16"
SP, or Armed Forces Championship.
Modified Pitch: Men's or women's Major and Men's "A".
OR
Umpired at the local level for 20 years.

Participation in the Umpire Medals Program is optional but all
umpires are strongly encouraged to be a part of this show of pride in what we
do.
- The application fee for any level is $20.00* (non
refundable).
- Applications may be obtained from your State/Metro UIC,
your Regional UIC, the National Office
- Applications must be signed and include the fee or they
will be returned.
- There is no deadline. Applications are accepted whenever an
umpire becomes eligible for the level applied for.
- Upon acceptance you will receive a "Medals"
certificate, a pin, and a cap for the level for which you applied.
